THE WAR OF PATIENCE

The Gift of Patience, an animus-infused artifact crafted by the Icewings millennia ago, was given to the Sandwings under circumstances that have long been forgotten. Like many important items, it was stored in the treasury of the Sandwing Stronghold, and disappeared when Queen Oasis was assassinated. While it was ultimately recovered, in the year 5129 AS, the Late Classical Era, Queen Taiga of the Ice Kingdom put forth a bold claim: that by losing the Gift, the Kingdom of Sand had forfeited their claim to it, and she demanded that it be returned.

Queen Golden, the current leader of the Kingdom of Sand found the request absurd, but chose to react with restraint for the sake of diplomacy. Instead, she approached Queen Pyrope of the Skywings, who agreed to facilitate a summit between the Sandwings and the Icewings, acting as a neutral mediator. All three parties attended the summit, and the Ice Kingdom and Kingdom of Sand presented their respective cases. Unsurprisingly, Queen Pyrope agreed with Queen Golden’s assessment that the Icewings lacked a legitimate claim to the artifact. This revelation enraged Queen Taiga, who accused the Sandwings and Skywings of conspiring against her from the start and subsequently ordered her forces to attack both parties, igniting The War of Patience.

Recognizing this as an opportune moment, Nightshade, the leader of the Venomwings, proposed an alliance with the Icewings, contingent upon their willingness to capture some Skywing territory and give control of it it to the Venomwings, enabling them to initiate expand inland. Queen Taiga readily accepted this proposal.
