The Hives are the kingdom of the Hivewings. Each Hive has its own administrative structure, all of which are overseen by a queen.
Historically, the queen has been selected in secret by the previous queen, under the guise of prophecy. When the ruse was revealed, Queen Wasp was overthrown, and Queen Jewel took the throne. However, it is currently not known who will succeed her. The two most likely candidates are her daughters, Scarab and Formica, who are both attempting to curry favor with the citizens.
The Hives consist of Cicada Hive, Jewel Hive, Wasp Hive, Mantis Hive, Yellowjacket Hive, Tsetse Hive, Vinegaroon Hive, and Hornet Hive.
Bloodworm hive is a ruin, burned down around the time that Queen Wasp was overthrown.
After Wasp was overthrown, she was imprisoned. Not long after, she was found dead in prison. Most dragons believe she was assassinated, though the culprit was never found.
