Appearance: Hypolimnion has distinctive mottled brown and white scales. He also exhibits hetrochromia- his right eye is brown, his left blue. His build is typically Icewing, slender, with spines and serrated claws.

Personality: Hypolimnion is generally a quiet sort, though he cares a great deal for his town and family.

Cattail: Hypolimnion and his sister Cattail are close. He respects her compassion and intelligence.

Permafrost: Hypolimnion's brother, Permafrost, is a bit more distant and often prefers to be alone, but Hypolimnion still cares for him strongly.

Taiga: Cousin

History: Hypolimnion was hatched in Sanctuary to the Icewing, Crystal, and the Mudwing, Gharial. He has two clutchmates, Cattail and Permafrost. The three of them were raised in Sanctuary together, with little connection to the Icewing royal family that they were descended from. They did meet Snowfall and Taiga briefly, but were never particularly close.

As an adult, Hypolimnion took up a role managing Sanctuary’s irrigation, a role that he took to well.

During the War of Patience, he is a supporter of Sanctuary’s independence. He thinks Taiga is clearly wrong, but does not have any desire to fight. Additionally, Sanctuary is often visited by Skywing and Sandwing soldiers due to its position within the borders of the Sky Kingdom; Hypolimnion has found that they tend to treat him brusquely due to his visible Icewing heritage, which has not particularly inspired him to risk his life on their behalf.
